This Louis Vuitton Kenyan Fawn Epi leather card holder is the most refined version of understated luxury — 11 cm long, 0.5 cm thick, the embossed LV on the front as its only adornment, the warm brown of Kenyan Fawn for its entire color. In a jacket or jean pocket, it's forgotten until needed.
Epi leather was introduced by Louis Vuitton in 1985 — its horizontal grooved texture, inspired by wheat ears, is obtained through a specific embossing that strengthens the leather while giving it its immediately recognizable visual signature. It is one of the most durable leathers ever produced by the house: it does not patina, does not scratch easily, is water-resistant, and retains its color for decades. In the 1990s, the Epi line was declined in a palette of bright and saturated colors that have become iconic in the vintage market — Tassil Yellow, Toledo Blue, Castilian Red, Borneo Green, and this Kenyan Fawn, a warm brown with caramel reflections that evokes the African savannas from which it takes its name. These colors are no longer produced new: finding them in good condition on the second-hand market is increasingly difficult.
This ultra-flat card holder (0.5 cm thick) offers 3 card slots — 2 inside and 1 on the back — in a 11 × 7 cm format that slips into any pocket, including a jean pocket or a jacket breast pocket. It is designed to be unisex: as much for a man who wants to reduce his wallet to the bare minimum as for a woman who wants a flat card holder to slip into a mini-bag. The embossed LV at the bottom right of the front is the only visible signature — just enough.
In good general condition, the Epi leather is clean and the corners are preserved. Slight internal friction in the pockets is visible, consistent with previous use and without impact on functionality.
